The Story

If you only have one ball head, we recommend purchasing an additional one.
With two ball heads, you can set up your gear like this:
One ball head connects the NOMAD to your tripod, allowing you to adjust its direction during polar alignment.
The other ball head mounts your camera onto the NOMAD, enabling flexible control over your shooting angle.
